Untitled: Drawing Breath (2004) was performed at the Ikon Gallery, Birmingham. The installation was a durational piece lasting four hours in total. Upon the wall of the gallery was a rectangle of tape that corresponded to the height and width of McKenzie's body. Situated in the gallery was a table and chair painted white upon which were a box of charcoal and a stack of white paper bags.

Drawing Breath is usually a one on one performance. As each audience member entered the space, they were approached by the artist who unbuttoned his shirt, taking their hand in his own and placing it over his heart. He then breathed in and out once, allowing the audience member to feel the breath being inhaled and exhaled.
The artist then took a bag, and, sitting at the table covered that bag with charcoal. He then walked up to the wall framed by the masking tape and blowing into the bag ‘popped’ the bag against the wall, the expiration of the breath leaving a mark of charcoal where the bag/breath hit the wall. The wall had contact microphones attached to it so that the surface of the wall recorded the sound of the pop of the bags. The expiration of the breath played through amplifiers making the act of breathing an aural as well as a physical/visual experience.
